COME OUT AND PLAY
2018
[lakens van de Willem Arntsz Hoeve / Altrecht in Den Dolder]
Come out and play was een werk in reactie op de Summerschool ‘My other tongue‘ waaraan ik van 8 t/m 18 juli 2018 deelnam. De summerschool – georganiseerd door artist residency Het Vijfde Seizoen en Beautiful Distress projectspace – had taal en psychiatrie als bovenliggend thema.
Over Come out and Play
Dutch psychiatry is changing towards ambulant care; the board of Altrecht aims at zero beds in the future. Most of the buildings at the Willem Arntz Hoeve in Den Dolder are not occupied by patients anymore. All people we spoke to last week emphasize that the most important thing for patients is for to be connected to other people. Not only to talk about problems, but also to dream and play.
Daarnaast was ‘Een tafel is een tafel’ te horen; een audio experiment over hapering in de gesproken taal, die ruimte laat voor nieuwe gedachten: Philosopher Gilles Deleuze reasoned there is a layer of creative power in stuttering, as the cracks and fractures make room for new thoughts. A table is a table is a story by Peter Bichsel, voiced by Matthijs Bax.
